EPBS Council elects Marie Culliton as President

EPBS President Marie Culliton The EPBS has elected Marie Culliton as its new President. Marie has represented Ireland as a delegate to the EPBS and IFBLS for Ireland since 2001 and served as President of the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science during 2001-2003.

Marie Culliton said: “I am honoured to have been elected as President of the EPBS at such an important and challenging time for both the profession of biomedical scientists and the EPBS.

“I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Martin Nicholson, who successfully steered the EPBS from its formation in 1999 to establishing it as the recognised European body representing biomedical scientists.

“In the last five years we have provided an important forum for exchanging ideas and information to achieve a set of agreed minimum standards across Europe and our membership is increasing as more countries join the EPBS.

“Throughout my career I have worked for the advancement of biomedical science and for more recognition of its vital role in the wider health service. The EPBS remains committed to developing the skills and knowledge of biomedical scientists across Europe and I look forward to working with the national delegates to further our aims.”
