Welcome to the European Association for Professions in Biomedical Science (EPBS).

The EPBS was formed in May 1999 at The Hague, Netherlands for those who work in all fields of biomedical science across Europe. It is officially registered in Brussels, Belgium as an international non-profit association. Membership is open to professional bodies committed to developing the skills and knowledge of the biomedical scientist in order to become an effective member of the health care team.

The aims of the EPBS within the European framework are to:

  • promote the maintenance of the highest possible standards of practice within biomedical science;
  • develop the ethical and professional values of the biomedical scientist;
  • support the training and education of the biomedical scientist in order to improve health care provision;
  • foster co-operation between member societies in areas of education, continuing professional development, competences and research;
  • liase with EU Commission on all issues relevant to biomedical science;
  • utilizse this shared knowledge between the societies to the benefit of all.

The member societies nominate representatives who meet annually through the General Governing Body of the EPBS. Between these meetings the Management Body, which is elected by the General Governing Body, is responsible for carrying out the EPBS's agenda and initiatives.

EPBS Internal Regulations
The Internal Regulations are an accompanying document to the Statutes of the EPBS. They clarify the Statutes and add additional detail on their implementation. Adopted in 2006.

EPBS is an International Non-Profit Association (AISBL) registered under the Belgian law.
